Ionnsaich Còmhla Rinn

Our Gaelic courses here at Ravenspoint are rooted in the language and culture of the local community.  As well inviting you into their homes, local people want to share their language, history and culture with you.

Alongside these informal learning opportunities, we offer structured language-learning sessions using the Ulpan programme. A specimen programme can be seen below and, numbers permitting, we expect to offer two parallel sets of ULPAN lessons on each course, the levels depending on the preferences of students.

The courses can suit complete beginners as well as those who already have some knowledge of the language and we also hope to offer some additional support to speakers of Gaelige on at least one of the courses.

This is what recent students have said

“The people we met in South Lochs were astonishingly welcoming and they made the whole programme really exceptional. We learned about their lives and the life of the community in the past and also in the present. This is a truly community programme and it is a truly special community. The selfless dedication of those involved says a great deal about them and offers so much to visitors. I could only stay one week but I wish I could have stayed more”.

“The warmth of welcome at Ravenspoint and in its surrounding villages is unsurpassable. The Gaelic course there includes effective teaching of the language by generous, patient teachers (sometimes through song) plus several wonderful opportunities to explore the natural and historic environs in which Gaelic language, song, music and traditions abide.”

“I am going home happy, tired, refreshed, inspired to study, enthusiastic and sad to say goodbye!”
