The Isle of Lewis is served by daily sailings from Ullapool to
Stornoway
Sailings also depart from Uig on the Isle
of Skye to Lochmaddy, (Isle of North Uist) and Tarbert on the Isle of
Harris which then allows you to drive on to Lewis
There is also a ferry service from Berneray, North Uist to Leverburgh Harris.
You can also travel via Oban to Lochboisdale (Isle of South Uist) and drive, cycle, walk up through the islands. The same ferry also sails from Oban to
Castlebay, (Isle of Barra).
Driving or CyclingDriving or cycling to the Western Isles could not be simpler as there are
differing routes to take via either Oban, Uig on Skye or the most
commonly used one from Ullapool on board the "MV Isle of Lewis". On the
assumption you might have arrived in Stornoway from Ullapool, follow
the signs for Tarbert via the A859 for 15 miles until you reach
Balallan. At the southern end of this village, turn left along the
B8060 for four miles and you will find Ravenspoint situated on
the left hand side in the village of Kersahder having passed through the village of Habost.
Driving from Tarbert on the Isle of Harris (via Ferry from Uig on the
Isle of Skye), follow the signs for Stornoway (Steornabhagh) for
approximately 17 miles. Just as you arrive in Balallan, turn right
along the B8060 for four miles and you will find Ravenspoint.
